IV EDTA chelation IV EDTA Chelation is administering a man-made amino acid into the veins. (EDTA is an abbreviation for ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid.) EDTA is most often used in cases of acute lead poisoning (specifically lead, it's what it was designed for and works very well on lead). That’s because it creates a bond with this metal, creating a compound that can be excreted in the urine (which is not the body's NATURAL route of excretion, it's the gastro-intestinal tract). In addition to binding to a narrow spectrum of heavy metals (EDTA is an extremely weak chelator of Mercury) , EDTA also chelates calcium and other essential minerals rather aggressively.
Duration of IV EDTA chelation and it's cost Each IV chelation treatment usually requires two to four hours and costs between $50 and $100 (even more). In the first month, patients generally receive from five to 30 treatments (with 30 being the most prevelant amount). Patients often are advised to continue preventive treatment monthly. IV EDTA Chealtion isn’t a medically accepted treatment. Insurance companies and Medicare will not reimburse for it. Patients must pay for this treatment themselves. Possible Dangers of IV EDTA chelation IV EDTA isn’t a totally safe treatment. There’s a real danger of kidney failure. (renal tubular necrosis). EDTA can also cause convulsions, respiratory arrest, cardiac arrhythmias, allergic reactions and respiratory arrest. Additionally , there are reported deaths ( Boy Dies During Autism Treatment ) in the United States have been related with chelation therapy. Some people are on dialysis because of kidney failure related, at least in part, by IV EDTA chelation. While a being a good treatment for acute lead poisoning, choosing IV EDTA chelation may be putting more at risk that a couple of thousand dollars.
Possible Dangers of Oral DMPS chelation
Especially risky is the “DMPS challenge test”. This calls for an injection of a high dose of DMPS. It is probably the riskiest way to administer DMPS. DMPS can in some, induce metal poisoning, there’s little that can be done to rectify the situation. Admistration with as little as 100mg 3x per day with food of oral DMPS has reportedly led to Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. Some other adverse reactions associated with the use of DMPS: inflammation of the pancreas, headache, nausea, muscle pain/weakness, diarrhea, stomach pain, rashes, decreased urination, arrhythmias and allergic reactions.
